Financial Consultant Treeva Sarles

A special meeting was held to update council on the financial clean-up from previous administration and to go over the 2027 budget projections.

Consultant Treeva Sarles presented the council with an update on how the financial clean-up is going and what her process will be moving forward to satisfy SBOA. Treeva also updated council that while working with Karie they have discovered that the town was advised back in 2022 that a wastewater rate increase would be needed to pay for the USDA loan and maintenance of the new wastewater plant. However, this rate increase was never done causing a shortfall of money coming in to maintain the wastewater plant. Treeva advised council that they need to consider implementing at the very least the increase that was proposed in 2022 asap.   

Clerk Treasure Karie Holder presented council with the proposed budget for 2027, and the proposed 2027 salary increases. The public hearing for the budget will be September 15, 2026 at 6:00.
