Council President Betty Hoster opened the Council Meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance.
The June 2, 2026 Council Meeting Minutes were presented for approval. Council member Janet Gross made a motion to approve the minutes. Council member Chris Dye second the motion. Motion carried 4-0.
Jared Baer Reported for the following departments:
Streets: Joe Demerly will be here to fix GFI Plugs on market street light poles.
Police: Jared reported everything is going well. They have been approved by DHS for the ICE agency for $100,000 for vehicle expense, and $15,000 for equipment expenses. Jared also reminded everyone of the fireworks ordinance, fireworks are allowed June 29 – July 9 from 5pm to 2 hours after sunset and until midnight on July 4th.
Clerk Treasurer, Karie Holder, presented the June 2, 2026 APV Register for approval. Council Vice President Mike Johnson made a motion to approve the APV Register. Council member Chris Dye second the motion. Motion carried 4-0. Karie then presented the financial review for May 2026. Council member Janet Gross made a motion to approve the May 2026 financial review. Council Vice President Mike Johnson second the motion. Motion carried 4-0.
Jared Baer presented estimates to have 3 alleys surveyed after before putting down new stone. Karie Holder stated that depending on the total cost for surveying the alleys it may limit how many alleys we are able to put new stone in this year. Mike Johnson made a motion to have the alleys surveyed. Chris Dye second the motion. Motion carried 4-0.
The town is still in the process of raising the funds for a new warning siren. The Wolcott Main Street will be having a benefit dinner on Friday June 26 and funds raised will be donated for the warning siren.
The Shelby Township ambulance contract was presented for approval. Council vice president Mike Johnson made a motion to approve the Shelby Township ambulance contract. Council member Chris Dye second the motion. Motion carried 4-0.
Betty Hoster Presented information to the council that Karie received from attorney Rebecca Trent about setting up a TIF district for the town. The town council will need to appoint a 5-person redevelopment commission. The president picks 3 members, and the council picks the remaining 2 members. Council Vice President Mike Johnson made a motion to move forward with setting up the TIF district. Council member Chris Dye second the motion. Motion Carried 4-0. President Betty Hoster appoints the following three people to the redevelopment commission Betty Hoster, Chris Dye, and Justin Bowman. The remaining 2 members will be appointed by the council at a later time.
Discussion was had about the Annexation west of Wolcott. Since Rebecca Trent will be working with the town with the Anex involved for the TIF district it was discussed that she my also be able to assist the town with the annexation west of Wolcott. Council Vice President Mike Johnson made a motion to use attorney Rebeca Trent to move forward with the annexation west of Wolcott. Council member Chris Dye second the motion. Motion carried 4-0.
