June 2, 2026

Council President Betty Hoster opened the Council Meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance.
The May 19, 2026 Council Meeting Minutes were presented for approval. Council member Janet Gross made a motion to approve the minutes. Council member Cameron Emond second the motion. Motion carried 5-0.
Jared Baer Reported for the following departments:
Wastewater: Jared and Jeff visited Kentland with Ken Smith to look at their Phosphorous pretreatment setup. Ken has begun the process of seeking permit for pretreatment of Phosphorous with an Alum system which takes about 6 months for the permit.
Streets: Lights were put up around light poles with Mike Johnson’s help and Hayden’s help but there is still a few more poles left to get done.
Water: Justin Bowman was here to report that Peerless Pumps pulled the well pump and are in the process of cleaning and installing the new one.
Police: Jared reported everything is going well.
Park: Jared Reported some issues with the parking lot at the ball park, he has placed some concrete barriers for a temporary fix until they can get some no parking signs placed.
Jacob Ahler reported that he had not heard back from Barnes and Thornberg on an estimated cost for annexation. Some discussion was had about other options Jacob is going to Reach out to attorney Jud Barce to see if he would be willing to help with the annex and what the cost would be. A Tif district was also discussed Jacob was going to contact Rebeca Trent about getting the Tif district started.   Â
Clerk Treasurer, Karie Holder, presented the APV Register for approval. Council Vice President Mike Johnson made a motion to approve the APV Register. Council member Chris Dye second the motion. Motion carried 5-0.
KIRPC: Janet Gross reported that they had a meeting about cyber security and the importance of it.
WCEDC: Mike Johnson attended the annual meeting.
MainStreet: Janell Hofstetter reported they will be having a dinner on June 26th at the community building with proceeds going towards the new emergency warning siren.
Psi Iota Xi:Â Karie Holder reported they got the flowers planted through town.
David Girtz from Girtz Industries was here to discuss his plans for building West of Wolcott. They will need town serviced for Water and Wastewater.
Discussion was had over the upcoming vacancy on the town council. Cameron Emond announced that his last meeting on the town council will be July 21, 2026 due to him moving out of Wolcott. We will post that the town is accepting letters of interest for the vacant position. Letters can be submitted to the clerk treasures office by June 30, 2026. Karie Holder will post it on the Town page and in the newspaper.
