Council President Cameron Emond opened the Budget Workshop with the Pledge of Allegiance.

Treeva Sarles announced that training with Clerk Treasurer, Karie Holder, is going great. They are both working on getting the books straightened out, from previous years.

Treeva made a recommendation to the Council, to close the General Hifi and Water Hifi accounts, and combine them with the regular checking accounts. The General and Water checking accounts are already hifi accounts, so there is no need to have a separate General and Water Hifi account. Council Member Michael Johnson made a motion to close the general hifi (391) and water hifi (839) accounts, and transfer the funds to the appropriate general (398) and water (401) checking accounts. Council Vice President Betty Hoster second the motion. Motion carried 4-0.

Treeva notified the Council that money will be cut from the budget due to property tax cuts in Indiana.

Treeva presented the proposed budget to the Council. The Council discussed the proposed budget.

Treeva expressed concern over the Town spending more out of the Wastewater account, than what is being brought in. She then suggested the possibility of looking at raising sewage rates.

September 16, 2025 will be the Public Hearing for the 2026 budget. October 7, 2025 will be the 2026 budget adoption.
