Council President Michael Johnson opened the meeting with the Pledge to the flag.

 

Council Vice President Cameron Emond made a motion to correct the minutes from June. Council Member Jerry Lietz second the motion. Motion carried 5-0.

 

Town Marshall James Herre presented his monthly report.

 

George Blissett: Announced that the murals will be beginning on August 24, 2020. The theme will be Farming/Americana and Patriotic. George also announced that Anthony Brooks will be the artist of the murals.

Mainstreet will be putting a sign on the highway for town announcements and upcoming town events. The sign will be $29,000 to buy and install. George announced that there will be a Town Wide Garage Sale/Market Street Day on July 24-25. There will also be a Farmer?s Market that will take place once a month through the summer months, and twice a month in October. George asked for permission to close down the road on these days. After little discussion, Council Vice President Cameron Emond made a motion to allow the street closure. Council Member Richard Lynn second the motion. Motion carried 4-0, due to Darwin Miller being on the Mainstreet committee.

Main street asked the council for permission to use Town equipment to dig a hole for the sign installation. Council Vice President Cameron Emond made a motion to allow the use of town equipment. Council Member Richard Lynn second the motion. Motion carried 4-0, due to Darwin Miller being on the Mainstreet committee.

Mainstreet would like to purchase the old liquor store in town for $20,000. Browns Field will clean up the ground. Mainstreet would like the Town to purchase the building and gift it to Mainstreet. After much discussion, the council decided to have an executive session about this at a later date.

 

Robin Foley: Brought to the attention of the council that she has no water pressure at her residence on Scott Street. This has been an ongoing issue that they have been facing. Council President Michael Johnson said that he would speak with Bob to figure out a solution.

 

George Blissett: Spoke about the ideas that he has for the pocket park and expressed interest in doing something with that space.

 

Council Member Jerry Lietz made a motion to amend the White County A 63 Ordinance. IC 7-6-47. Council Member Darwin Miller second the motion. Motion carried 5-0.

 

Leroy Simon: Wanted to know who is responsible for the ditch on Scott Street. After much discussion, it was decided that the county would be notified that they are responsible for the ditch.

 

Council President Michael Johnson presented bids to the council for the dump truck. The first bid was for $4500.00 from Kenneth Burns. The second bid was for $8500.00 from Cameron Emond. Council Member Darwin Miller made a motion to accept the bid for $8500. Council Member Jerry Lietz second the motion. Motion carried 4-0 due to Cameron?s nepotism.

 

Council Member Darwin Miller said that he would be out of town and would be unable to water the flowers around town. George Bissett then volunteered to take care of the flowers for Darwin. George then brought up putting up a No Trespassing sign on the gravel road leading to the Wastewater/Water Plants. George also expressed concern about the railroad people spraying along the railroad and killing his trees.

 

Council Vice President Cameron Emond made a motion to adjourn. Council Member Darwin Miller second the motion. Motion carried 5-0.
